Apex Male was just added to some internet reviewers’ lists of the best testosterone boosters on the market. Blackstone Labs, the company that makes Apex Male, says it’s a great way for guys over 30 to get their testosterone levels back up. You can buy both powder and pills of Apex Male. We are testing the capsules.

Says it can:

  • Better your mental health
  • Natural ways to raise testosterone
  • Good for guys over 30 “Bring out the alpha male”

Without a question, Apex Male is a high-end product that costs around £40 in the UK and $55 in the US.

Even so, the product gets “more hype than bite” in one review on Blackstone Labs’ own website. What is the truth about Apex Male? Let’s take a look…

About The Business

In fairness, the blurb for Apex Male is pretty quiet, but Blackstone Labs as a whole is noisey. On the first line of the company’s About page, the brand calls itself “the hardcore holy grail of supplements.” This is where the hype starts.

We haven’t heard much about Blackstone Labs, even though it says it has a “strong presence on social media” and “a loyal fanbase.” Having said that, many of its goods have great reviews online.

What’s in it and how it works

A quick look at the back of the Apex Male bottle shows that it has some ingredients that have been shown to raise T-levels and some that aren’t as clear.

  • Check it out:
  • The acid D-aspartic

D-Aspartic Acid (D-AA) is a great way to boost testosterone, according to research. We wouldn’t even touch a T-booster without it, that’s how important it is. But D-AA is the only one that has been shown to work for these reasons. It is one of two types of aspartic acid.

Increasing the amount of the Luteinizing hormone, which is closely linked to making testosterone, is how it works.

We were disappointed to learn that Apex Male has 3000mg, which is too much. Based on our experience, the best amounts are between 1600 and 2300 mg.

Bulbine Natalensis

The plant Bulbine Natalensis comes from the south and southeast of Africa. Many years ago, it was used as a sexual aid. In traditional medicine, it is also used to treat diabetes and seizures.

But can you use it as a T-booster?

Well, Bulbine Natalensis is a newer item on the list of things that are said to boost testosterone, even though it has roots in traditional medicine.

And while studies on animals that show increases in testosterone are good news, the fact that no studies have been done on people is a bit of a worry.

This is why we think you should stay away from Bulbine Natalensis until more study is done.

Extract of Fenugreek

Fenugreek is a powerful herb that has been studied in depth and is a good addition to any T-booster or libido booster.

This herb’s main chemical, 4-hydroxyisoleucine, helps keep your metabolism in check and lowers your blood sugar. It has been used for a long time in traditional medicine for these reasons.

Maybe fenugreek is the answer if you want to quickly raise your T-levels.

But while 100 mg of Fenugreek is the right amount, Apex Male has 250 mg, which is too much.

The thorny thorn tree

The herb Tribulus Terrestris has spines and has been used in Chinese and Indian healing for a long time.

It’s also called Goat’s Head, Devil’s Weed, Puncture Vine, and Protodioscin. People use the plant to improve their libido and T-level, and the fact that it has a lot of steroidal saponins seems to support this.

The results of tests on rats are also very good. On the other hand, there isn’t much evidence that Tribulus helps people make more testosterone.

Maca Powder

It is a Peruvian plant that looks like a turnip and is also called Peruvian Ginseng.

It also has a lot of sterols, fatty acids, and other good things for you. A substance called p-methoxybenzyl isothiocyanate is one of these. Some people think it increases sex drive and fertility.

  • According to a study in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology, these claims may partly be true.
  • People who rode bikes were asked to take 2400 mg of Maca Extract for 14 days as part of the study.
  • The study was over, and the data showed that the herb does not change T-levels but does raise libido.

But it’s important to note that Apex Male only has 250mg, which is a lot less than what the people in the study above took. There are stronger supplements out there if you want to boost your libido.

Also, testosterone alone can increase sex drive. And since maca doesn’t raise testosterone levels, it doesn’t belong in a supplement with known T-boosters.

  • L-Tyrosine

L-Tyrosine is an amino acid that you can get from food. Because it helps make dopamine and adrenaline, it seems like it would work well as a testosterone precursor.

In the end, these chemicals that make us feel good are important for our general health and, by extension, our ability to make testosterone.

And studies show that L-Tyrosine can slow down the loss of dopamine and adrenaline, but it doesn’t actually raise T-levels.

On its website, Blackstone Labs says that L-Tyrosine “is absolutely essential to optimal testosterone levels.” However, this is not true.

DIM

For short, DIM is a chemical that can be found in broccoli, kale, and cabbage.

Indole-3-carbinol (I3C), an organic phytochemical compound that lowers the chance of cancer, is made by your body when you eat these vegetables.

Also, DIM has been shown to lower oestrogen levels. This is good news for guys because oestrogen can lower T-levels in men.

I3C is where DIM comes from. The second substance stops sex-hormone binding globulin (SHBG) from taking in testosterone, according to studies. After that, the male hormone can move easily through your body.

You should know, though, that most studies that look at I3C’s benefits only look at this active ingredient and not DIM. At this point, there isn’t much evidence that DIM works by itself.

Because of this, we suggest getting it from broccoli or cauliflower until more study is done on how it works in supplement form.

Poor Prunella Vulgaris

Prunella Vulgaris is a plant that is also known as Selfheal. It happens a lot on British lawns that don’t have weed killer on them.

Herbalists in the 1600s said, “There is not a better wounde herb in the world.” People still use it to treat burns, sores, bruises, and other small injuries.

New research shows that Prunella Vulgaris may be able to block oestrogen, which is good for testosterone growth. To be sure, though, more scientific study needs to be done.

So, it’s disappointing to see a herb that hasn’t been tried very much in a high-end supplement.

Extract of Epimedium

Epimedium, which is also known as Horny Goat Weed, is another herb on this list that is thought to boost testosterone and libido.

Horny Goat Weed has a lot of useful chemicals in it. The most well-known is icariin (ICA). There are hundreds of years of records in Chinese medicine that this main ingredient has been used to make people more sexually interested.

On its own, ICA is sold to both men and women as a libido enhancer.

There is a lot of anecdotal evidence that ICA works in this way, but the scientific data is not as strong. Studies on people have not shown that ICA is very useful as a T-booster.

N-Methyl D-Aspartate [11]

D-AA has been changed into N-Methyl D-Aspartate (NMDA). It’s true that your reproductive systems change D-AA into NMDA to speed up the NMDA pathway and raise T-levels.

It’s scary that NMDA is 100 times stronger than D-AA. We already said that Apex Male has too much D-AA in this study. In light of this, adding the much stronger NMDA is both pointless and harmful.

It’s no secret that the best of these supplements don’t just have the most T-boosting ingredients possible. Instead, they use the right amounts for efficiency. This supplement doesn’t seem to follow this important rule, which is a shame.

Piperine is a chemical that can be found in black pepper. Bioperine is a trademarked form of Piperine.

In this case, testosterone is one of the compounds that piperine lets move more easily around the body without being attacked by enzymes that break down drugs.

Studies with male mice also show that it might work well for this.

But because there haven’t been any tests on humans, the fact that Blackstone Labs used a form of the compound in this product is scary.

Look Over the End

Apex Male isn’t as good as people say it is. It is not true that all of the ingredients in this supplement either raise T-levels or block oestrogen, as Blackstone Labs says.

Fair enough, we were glad to see important ingredients like D-AA and Fenugreek in Apex Male. However, there are too many of each in this supplement. Because of this, the use of NMDA (the modified form of D-AA) did make us nervous.

You should look for a T-booster with ONLY proven ingredients, even though it’s great that this one is all natural.
